Hi! My name is Juan Jesus Trevino. I know, I know, what happened to Johnny Trevino, right? Well, ever since I was little, my mother would always call me Johnny. I don't really know why she did that, but I always tell people that it's because Juan in English is John and the nickname to that is...Johnny! So it's a name that I have always gone by and am really proud of it because of where it came from.
So who am I?
I love people, laughter, music, dancing, movies, writing, ministry, and my country!
People! The first people that I love is always going to be my family. Both sets...the ones that walk on two legs and walk on all fours. My wife, two children, son in-law, granddaughter, our fur-Vinos, my brother, and my sister. I love to meet people and connect with them. I have always believed that the greatest investment that you can put your time and resources into is...people. The most rewarding experience to ever witness, is to see someone become a happier and healthier person because of you. I have yet to meet a stranger in all my years of living and don't plan on starting anytime soon. So I can't wait to meet you. Let's talk!
Laughter! There is nothing like a good belly laugh. I am always cutting up around the house with my wife, kids, and fur-babies. There’s nothing like a great comedian, a funny meme, or something that happens unscripted in life that makes us all smile and laugh and forget about the seriousness of life even just for a moment. It’s so contagious!
Music! I am a self-taught drummer since the age of 13. I remember sitting in my Granny's living room, putting on some headphones and popping a Def Leppard cassette in and just listening to it over and over and over again. I would listen to every drum beat and before long, I knew every high-hat, snare, bass, and crash to that whole album. Before long, I was doing the same with all genres of music. I always have music on. Whether I'm doing chores, working out, or writing, it's one of my driving forces that moves me and inspires me. So if you ever see me with some headphones on and I'm tapping away with my fingers, you can pretty much bet that I am jamming to some great music and I'm the drummer for that moment :o) By the way, the Def Leppard album that I was listening to...Hysteria. Lastly, I love finding new music that moves my soul, whether it's upbeat or just mellow. Me finding a new artist or a great album is like finding money on the ground, a great pair of shoes, or a favorite outfit. I will wear it out!
Dancing! I am a self-taught dancer. Lot of people are very surprised to hear that I can dance. Again, at the age of 13, I remember locking myself up in my room and listening to music while standing in front of a mirror and just being free to practice my moves or the moves that I saw on MTV. Yes, the time when they actually had music videos on there :o) I have been known to tear up a wedding dance floor up a time or two but still making sure the spotlight is the bride and groom :o) So don't be surprised to see me dance or drag people on to the dance floor.
Movies! Ahhh...I mean who doesn't love movies, right? The ability to sit for a couple of hours and just be taken to another world, another life, another reality. It's truly amazing, right?! My wife gives me a hard time about my movie collection. I have tear jerkers like, The Notebook, Fried Green Tomatoes, Remember The Titans, and my all-time fav...Gladiator. "Are you not entertained!?" What can I say, I am a hopeless romantic that believes in love, inspiration, and hope.
Writing! I would have never thought myself to be a writer but it makes sense though for me to be one due to the fact that I am a heavy analytical thinker. So I find myself wanting to jot those moments of deep insights of life down on a piece of paper. I also find myself wanting to give insights on the bible. I get it, I get it, the bible may not be a book that you read or it's a complex book to understand. If you just allow my writings a chance, maybe - just maybe, you will find either some clarity or wanting to know even more about this mysterious book called the bible.
Ministry! I am a child of God, I am a believer but please always remember this about me. I am not so heavenly minded that I am no earthly good, and likewise, I am not so earthly minded that I am no heavenly good. I love God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. I believe that there is more to life than this life. I believe that we are all called to love and serve. We truly will never understand the fullness of love until we serve each other.
Lastly, I love God's Word. It truly has power within it if we only allow ourselves to really dig into it. I have just recently started a YouTube channel, LIVING FREE, where I believe that I am called to teach God's Word through practical & biblical understanding and make it relatable to today's current trends. Remember this, "great treasure can't be found unless you dig for it." Come along with me as we journey through the scriptures with teaching, music, visuals, and videos to find out who our God really is and what this life was meant to be about. Now let's get to it! Let's start
Living Free together in Jesus!!!
My Country! I really want you to know that I love my country. There is nothing like living in this amazing land. I get chill bumps whenever I stand for the singing of our national anthem. The blood, sweat, and tears that have been shed for our right to have this freedom always overwhelms me with humility and honor. This is truly a land that has offered many great opportunities and made a lot of dreams come true for every kind of nation and tongue. And please understand this of me, I know that this country hasn't done everything right but I still believe in mercy and forgiveness should still be bestowed upon this great nation. I love this quote from Emmanuel Acho, "History is meant to be remembered, but it isn't always meant to be celebrated."
Last but not least, I am a thinker. I have always said that if people had a chance to walk inside of my head, they would get lost, lol. My mind is always thinking and pondering of ways to improve things, ways to make you laugh, ways to encourage you, ways to challenge you, and ways to make you feel special. I am easily captivated by the swaying of trees caught in a strong gust of wind to the fly that will not allow me to eat my food in peace. On that note...I have tried co-existing with that fly by putting a piece of food to the side for him but oh no...he wants it all!
Anyways, I hope that in this new season of my life, that I will be able to help others see hope through my writing, laughter, conversation, or just simply a generous smile.
